Xiangqi

Chinese Chess board game against a computer opponent. To win you need to capture the general of your opponent.

Move your pieces according to their individual movement rules. The Commander can only step one square at a time within the fortress. Advisors must stay within diagonal moves within the palace. Ministers move exactly two squares diagonally and cannot jump over pieces. Knights move one square straight and then one square diagonally, if not impeded by adjacent pieces. Chariots move any number of squares straight, making them powerful attackers. Cannons move like chariots but must capture by hopping over exactly one piece. Pawns move forward one square and attack sideways after crossing the river. Capture the opponent's general to win the game. Plan your moves carefully to checkmate the computer opponent.
